How do you practice upcycling?
Upcycling is a thoughtful, hands-on process, and at Story Wear, it is deeply rooted in craftsmanship and care.
We begin by sourcing discarded denim from consumers and garment factories, deadstock fabrics from textile mills, and surplus textiles from companies that would otherwise be thrown away.
Each piece of fabric is then carefully inspected, cleaned, and sorted by our team before the design process even begins.
Unlike conventional fashion production, upcycling is highly labour intensive. Our designers and pattern makers work with the limitations and possibilities of each existing garment or textile, deconstructing it by hand and thoughtfully reconstructing it into something new.
Every cut, seam, and patch is considered, making the process slower, more complex, and inherently human.
We believe that nothing should go to waste. Even the smallest fabric scraps are preserved and repurposed into accessories such as bags, straps, patchwork details, and trims. By fully utilising every material, we honour the resources already used to create the fabric and extend its life as much as possible.
Because we work with what already exists, no two Story Wear pieces are exactly alike. Each garment reflects both the past life of its materials and the skilled hands that reshaped them.
Through this zero-waste approach, we transform textile waste into meaningful, long-lasting pieces, proving that sustainability is not just an idea, but a practice built on time, effort, and respect.
What are your sizing options?
Because every Story Wear piece is thoughtfully designed through upcycling, our sizing reflects both craftsmanship and comfort.
Some styles are offered in two size options (such as S/M or M/L) to provide a better fit while accommodating the unique nature of reclaimed fabrics. Other designs are free-sized, intentionally created with a relaxed, comfortable fit that suits a wide range of body types.
